Belgium FA post advert for national team job after Roberto Martinez exit following World Cup disappointment

The Belgian FA have posted an online advert for their vacant role of the national team manager.

Roberto Martinez left the post after their World Cup group stage exit in Qatar, having been in the job since 2016.

The decision was made before the tournament had even kicked off.

Their search for his successor now appears to already be underway as they look to swiftly move on from their dissapointment in Qatar.

As reported by The Athletic, the Belgium FA have posted an advert online to find their new head coach.

The Royal Belgium Football Association [RBFA] said: “Even after the early elimination at the World Cup in Qatar, the RBFA remains very ambitious for the future.

“The RBFA is looking for a full-time national team coach who knows how to win.

“The new national team coach is extremely ambitious and has the necessary international experience at top level, football tactical knowledge and insights as well as the right personal skills.

“He is a serial winner with experience in managing top players. He knows how to focus on creating a close-knit group and how to integrate young players.

“The football association is looking for a tactical expert who supports his choices with data, technology and objective parameters and draws on RBFA’s sporting expertise and structure.”

Belgium failed to make it out of the group stages at this year’s World Cup, finishing behind eventual semi-finalists Morocco and Croatia.

Many believe that this is also the end of their ‘golden generation’, especially when the likes of Eden Hazard are retiring from international football.

Euro 2024 will likely be their next major tournament, with a new manager set to come in and take the reins.
