Jadon Sancho will miss Manchester United’s winter trip to Spain as Red Devils release squad list for training camp
Jadon Sancho will not be travelling with the Manchester United squad to their training camp in Spain.
The Red Devils are set to play friendlies against LaLiga outfits Cadiz and Real Betis in Andalusia, but one of their young stars will remain at home.
Sancho has had a tough time at United since he signed from Borussia Dortmund last summer, having so far failed to replicate the levels he reached in the Bundesliga.
He will now remain in England for the next few days as his fellow teammates jet across the continent, with United releasing their list of players who will feature in Spain.
The likes of David de Gea, Donny Van de Beek and Anthony Martial have all been included in the travelling squad.
With Sancho omitted, the club said: “Jadon Sancho is continuing his individual training programme as part of a process to get back to his highest level.
“The club is fully supporting him in this.”
Thirteen members of the first team squad are currently competing at the World Cup in Qatar, so will therefore also not be joining.
United have organised their camp to prepare for the return of English football in late December.
Their first game back after the World Cup is a Carabao Cup tie at home against Burnley, who are led by Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany.
Erik ten Hag’s side will then make a return to Premier League action two days after Christmas Day when they host Nottingham Forest.
A trip to Wolves will round off their 2022 as United set their sights on a top four finish come the end of the season.
For Sancho, he will be keen to use this time off to rediscover his mojo as he eyes silverware at Old Trafford, with just three goals in 14 appearances to his name so far this season.
