English football is on the verge of finally introducing temporary concussion substitutes after the Premier League made a formal request to launch a trial next season

The Premier League had previously favoured permanent concussion substitutes but, after consulting medical experts at all 20 of its top-flight clubs, has joined brain injury experts, as well as player unions, in pushing for temporary concussion substitutes
