‘We still feel his presence’ – Bukayo Saka reveals injured Gabriel Jesus’ key role in Arsenal dressing room after Gunners’ Premier League victory over West Ham

Bukayo Saka has revealed the role Gabriel Jesus has played in the Arsenal dressing room despite being sidelined with injury.

The Gunners’ summer signing is set to be out for around three months after suffering a knee problem during the World Cup with Brazil.

Such news has come as a blow for Arsenal considering his form throughout the season so far, and the Gunners looking to maintain their seat at the top of the Premier League table.

However, teammate Saka has now spoken on the striker’s influence on the rest of the squad despite being out of action.

Speaking to Amazon Prime after their comeback win over West Ham on Boxing Day, he said: “Of course they [Jesus and defender Oleksandr Zinchenko] are both champions so they bring that belief that we can win every game and go all the way.

“Every game they are telling us how important it is. Today Jesus wasn’t even on the pitch but we can still feel his presence.

“He was speaking to me in the dressing room and the other boys, which is so important.”

Arsenal claimed all three points over the Hammers on Boxing Day with a 3-1 victory at home.

Said Benrahma’s penalty put them behind, but goals from Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah sealed the turnaround.

The result sees them remain top of the Premier League, and they now sit seven points clear of Newcastle in second.

Arsenal are fighting for their first title since 2004 and have so far exceeded expectations.

With the January transfer window just round the corner, Arteta could look to strengthen for the rest of the season.

Mykhaylo Mudryk has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates, and Arsenal have made a bid of £57million.

It’s an exciting time for their fans, although there is still a long way to go until they reach Premier League glory.
