Brentford fans were quick to tease Harry Kane over his World Cup penalty miss during their match against Tottenham.
Kane missed a crucial spot kick in England’s quarter-final clash against France out in Qatar, which ultimately proved costly.
Bees fans then took hold of an early opportunity to tease the 29-year-old in the first Premier League match since England’s World Cup ended.
They could be heard signing: “Ivan Toney, he would have scored that!”
Toney was not named in Gareth Southgate’s World Cup for the tournament in Qatar.
His 11 goals and 16 games would suggest he was worthy of a spot, but he did not feature in the Middle East.
Spurs fans were quick to defend their man though, signing ‘Harry Kane, he’s one of our own’ during the warm-ups and ahead before kick-off.
The spotlight was on the 29-year-old ahead of the match following what happened against France.
Many believe he should not have taken a second penalty in the match, having netted from the spot earlier in the game.
A goal would have surely taken the clash to extra-time, but England soon crashed out in the final eight.
Despite what happened, Kane still has 13 goals to his name in all competitions for Spurs this season.
Antonio Conte’s side will be hoping he can put his World Cup heartbreak behind him and help guide them to a top four finish.
