Harry Kane starts for Tottenham after England penalty miss at World Cup alongside Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski with Fraser Forster replacing Hugo Llloris as Ivan Toney makes Brentford line-up for Boxing Day clash

Harry Kane has been thrown straight back into the Tottenham starting XI to face Brentford after his penalty miss at the World Cup.

The Three Lions skipper blazed over a late spot-kick in England’s quarter-final exit to France earlier this month.

But he has been given the chance by Antonio Conte to immediately get back in the goals when Spurs take on the Bees at 12:30pm.

The north London outfit face Thomas Frank’s side at the Gtech Community Stadium in the first Premier League match after the international break.

And Conte has opted to name his strongest attack, with Heung-min Son and Dejan Kulusevski appearing alongside Kane up top.

The Italian eluded to naming Kane in his team in his pre-match press conference, as he stated: “We are talking about a world-class striker.”

Before adding: “Football gives you the opportunity to have other chances to enjoy football.

“Because don’t forgot we do this job and also we are really lucky because we can enjoy this sport.

“Football gives us the possibility to play in the sport we have a lot of passion (for).

“Honestly I am not worried about him. I saw him very well in these two days with us.”

But there is no place in the team for World Cup runner-up Hugo Lloris, with Fraser Forster selected to start between the sticks.

Prior to Saturday’s fixture, Les Bleus’ goalkeeper had started the last 101 top-flight matches for Tottenham.

For Forster, it is just his second Spurs appearance since he joined the club in the summer.

Conte has also elected to start Matt Doherty ahead of Emerson Royal at right wing-back.

And Japhet Tanganga is a surprise inclusion in the line-up, with Davinson Sanchez having to settle for a place on the bench.

Usual suspects Eric Dier, Ivan Perisic, Yves Bissouma and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also all start along with Clement Lenglet.

As for Brentford, Ivan Toney leads the line for the west Londoners – despite the striker recently charged for over 30 additional alleged breaches of betting offences by the FA.

He starts up top with Bryan Mbuemo, with the pair scoring 13 Premier League goals between them this term.
