James Maddison jokes Ally McCoist would be RIGHT to let Jude Bellingham date his daughters and keep his granny away from Jack Grealish – but Bukayo Saka would be best son-in-law out of England stars
England star James Maddison has responded to Ally McCoist’s hilarious claim that he would let Jude Bellingham date his daughter,s but not let Jack Grealish near his granny.
Rangers legend McCoist, who has five son, told talkSPORT on Monday that if he had five daughters instead, they could all go out with Bellingham.
The 19-year-old midfielder has caught the eye with his maturity on and off the pitch while starring for the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup.
Grealish, on the other hand, is a self-confessed cheeky chappy and recently admitted he has a habit of doing ‘stupid’ things.
McCoist said: “I just think he’s [Bellingham] unbelievable. I’ve got five boys in the house but if I had five daughters I’d probably let him take them all out at the same time!
“He’s that kind of boy whereas wee Jack Grealish I wouldn’t let him near my granny! I love wee Jack but he’s just too mischievous.”
Responding to McCoist, Maddison agreed with the former Rangers striker and admitted that despite his blossoming friendship with Grealish, there’s no way he would allow a family member to date him.
“I think he’s [McCoist] bang on about Jude,” Maddison told talkSPORT. “He’s such a nice guy he’s obviously a superstar and I don’t have any qualms about saying that in terms of him getting carried away because he hasn’t got that mentality. He’s a superstar and a brilliant guy and a brilliant person.
“He’s very humble, very modest so I can see where he’s coming from with Jude.
“On to Jack, I’d probably agree! Jack’s a mischievous one. Jack’s a brilliant lad, me and him get on so well. He’s one of my best friends here but if I had a family member and they told me ‘I’m going on a date with Jack Grealish’, I’d be like ‘no you’re not!’”
When asked who inside the England squad would make the best son-in-law, Maddison was in no doubt that Bukayo Saka would be the perfect man for the job.
He added: “The first one who springs to mind is Bukayo Saka. He’s such a nice kid. I’ve seen Luke [Shaw] talk about Bukayo, I’ve seen Jack [Grealish] talk about B.
“You just get this relationship with him, he’s such a nice guy to everyone where you just build good relationship with him and if I had a sister or a daughter and they said to me ‘I’m going on a date with Bukayo Saka’, I’d be like, enjoy yourself. Let him pay, but enjoy yourself”
The Leicester City star is yet to make an appearance at the World Cup after recovering from a knee injury sustained in the Foxes’ 2-0 win at West Ham last month.
Maddison has revealed that he is now fully fit and waiting to be called upon by boss Gareth Southgate.
England face France in Saturday’s mouth-watering quarter-final showdown – live on talkSPORT – with a chance to reach their second-successive World Cup semi-final.
