BACK Tottenham players, including Dejan Kulusevski, return to training as they gear up for Boxing Day clash against Brentford with 12 first-team stars on World Cup duty

A selection of Tottenham stars have returned to Hotspur Way for training following their mid-season break.

But Antonio Conte remains without 12 first-team players who are absent due to their involvement in the World Cup.

Skipper Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son, Cristian Romero and Richarlison are all vying for the coveted trophy in Qatar.

And while they are keeping match fit out in the Gulf nation, those not involved in the international break are looking to get back into tip-top shape.

Big names back at the club include Dejan Kulusevski after Sweden failed to qualify for the global tournament.

Yves Bissouma is also being put through his paces after Mali missed out on a place at the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Emerson Royal wasn’t called up by Brazil, with England Under-21 internationals Ryan Sessegnon, Oliver Skipp and Djed Spence also missing out.

And Clement Lenglet was left out of defending champions France’s squad, despite his last outing for Les Bleus coming last year.

Also back at the club is goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman after his loan spell at Swedish side Degerfors IF concluded.

In a statement released by Spurs, the players that are back for training are undertaking drills similar to what they would be doing in pre-season.

As it stands, Spurs haven’t yet announced any warm-up friendlies prior to their Boxing Day trip to Brentford.

That is unlike their north London rivals Arsenal who will be competing against European giants Lyon, AC Milan and Juventus ahead of their clash against West Ham.

Though Football.London’s Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold claimed earlier this month how he expects Tottenham to be involved in behind-the-scenes friendlies.

Despite having most of their senior players away at the World Cup, a number could soon be returning to England.

Should Wales lose to England on Tuesday night, Ben Davies will likely be back quicker than hoped.

South Korea are also in danger of exiting at the group stage, which will see Son return.

The same can be said for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur with Denmark and Uruguay both on just a point after two matches.
